The Anglo-Hellenic League is pleased to announce that this year’s Katie Lentakis Memorial Fund Award 2026 was presented to Yilin (Miranda) Wang for her dissertation titled ‘Words Made Flesh: How the Theme of Corpse Mutilation Reveals the Narrative Economy of the Iliad.’

Runner-up was Maria Marsh, with her dissertation titled ‘The Orphic Gold Tablets: Practitioners, Worshippers, and Dionysiac Mystery Initiation.’

In partnership with King’s CHS and the Department of Classics, the AHL gave out the annual Award at an event at KCL on 10 June 2026.

The evening featured a lecture by Professor Melissa Lane, the Class of 1943 Professor of Politics at Princeton University, who spoke on the topic of ‘Plato’s Republic on Motivating (Ecological) Guardianship’. She drew on Plato’s Republic to explore how people can be educated so as to truly care about what is right to do, bringing this perspective to bear on the challenges of ecology. Some 60 people enjoyed this joyous occasion and the engaging lecture.
